Founded in 1970 by Tan Kor Seng, our company’s story is about vision, perseverance, and adaptability. Tan Kor Seng, a natural-born businessman who emigrated from China, tried his hand at various trades before recognising the potential growth in the rubber industry.
1970s: The Foundation Years
Tan Kor Seng recognised an opportunity in the market and purchased land to set up a small office for rubber pressing. Our initial product line concentrated on camelbacks, which became our mainstay for the first decade. Despite facing challenging credit terms, where six-month payment periods were considered favourable, we persevered and achieved growth.
The 1980s: Expansion and Diversification
Sensing growth, we acquired neighbouring land to expand our operations. This allowed us to add a store, a Banbury mixer, and a mixing room, significantly enhancing our production capabilities. Our product range expanded to include:

1990s-2000s: Adapting to Market Changes
As the demand for camelbacks decreased, we pivoted our focus to other products, including moulding and hydraulics components. This adaptability ensured our continued growth and relevance in the changing market landscape.
2004: A New Chapter – TKSS Masterbatch Sdn Bhd
Tan Kean Beng, son of Tan Kor Seng, recognised a gap in the market and founded TKSS Masterbatch Sdn Bhd in 2004. He started in a small factory with just one kneader to address the increasing demand for coloured rubber compounds.
Present Day: Today, Tan Kor Seng & Sons Rubber Works Sdn Bhd is one of the region’s largest manufacturers of customised dry-rubber-based products. Our journey from a small pressing office to a sprawling 23,000-square-meter factory is a testament to our founder’s vision and our company’s evolving ability.
